The Drive

The aim of the Kangaroo Wrap Drive is to travel through the 9 South African provinces, to spread awareness and knowledge on the benefits of Kangaroo Mother Care, as well as sponsor kangaroo wraps for the benefit of newborn babies who require incubation care.

Kangaroo Mother Care

Some benefits of Kangaroo Mother Care:

• Regulates infants’ heartbeat and improves breathing.

• Increases infants’ weight gain and lowers mortality rates, especially for premature babies.

• Improves oxygen saturation levels.

• Assists in maintaining body temperature, reducing hypothermia.

Kangaroo Wraps

The kangaroo wraps will be made by locally based women from some of our villages as part of a skills and employment campaign. Our wish is to sponsor 9000 wraps with your help.

Complimentary methods

We realize that some reasons for birthing low weight babies might be due to lack of nutrition during pregnancy, we will therefore use this platform to encourage healthy eating to expectant women.
